This is the Premium Heavy Duty clutch kit for Vanagon's made by Luk in Germany. This kit is the favorite of syncro owners and is recommended for use when performing engine conversions. Fits all years and model Vanagons (except the 82 Diesel) from stock GL's to hill climbing Syncros. Stock clutch kit has 1124 lbs pressure while the Luk clutch has 1461 lbs pressure - 30% improvement while the clutch pedal pressure that the driver experiences remains the same. Luk's part number for this kit is 17-058 - if comparing pricing of clutch kits with other vendors be sure that you are referring to the 17-058 and not the 17-010 which is basically stock clutch kit. Note: Inspect for uneven wear on the clutch release forks where the throw-out bearing rides. Uneven wear can lead to clutch chatter. If worn, either file the surface to regain its intended curved shape or replace with new crossarm shaft listed in clutch category.
