IMPORTANT NOTE - We sell the Febi, Moog, Meyle and TRW ball joints as we have found them to be of the highest quality (brand varies based on availability). These joints are sometimes slightly longer (a few more threads) and it has been found when used on a syncro (4 Wheel Drive) model with 14" alloys that they may be too long and may scrape the rim. There is at least 1/8" of extra metal beyond the threads, and we recommend grinding a portion of this area away on some models with 14" alloys to improve clearance. We still maintain that these four brands are the best quality product on the market and should be used on all the Vanagons but modified on the syncro models with 14" alloys. Another note - we have found irregularities in the diameter of the head of the ball joint (not the important splined area that is pressed into the lower control arm but above that area). Sometimes the diameter of the head is larger than the opening of the hole. If this is so, file or grind it down enough so that it slides in easily as this is not an important part of the ball joint and may cause the joint not to press in straight. Sold individually.
